This American Life on Cryonics

| Apr 22, 2008

I listen to a terrific weekly NPR radio program called This American Life. This week their episode is called “Mistakes Were Made” and it’s about apologies, or rather those not-totally-honest apologies that politicians and others sometimes make.

One of their stories is a fantastic documentary with the first President of a cryonics group in California in which they discuss the idea that bodies could be frozen and revived. But they mostly talk about how they ran their (very badly run) business. It is an extremely well done documentary — one of the best I’ve heard from this program.

They only make their episodes available for free download for a week, so get this one while it’s hot! After that, you’ll have to cheat by following these instructions for finding episodes of This American Life after they’re gone from the podcast stream. This particular episode will live here.

After the week you can still listen to them online. Some other recent good episodes (it’s so hard to pick just a few!) are The Audacity of Government, The Ghost of Bobby Dunbar (this one is truly amazing to listen to), and Testosterone

But really, this is one of my favourite podcasts now — if you find that you listen to podcasts, I recommend this series to be high on your list.
